Volunteering Special : Jigsaw4u helps children and young people put the pieces back together..

The Greydient Pledge to Registered Charities..

Greydient has recently made a pledge that all volunteering vacancies through registered charities will be offered free of charge. That’s right, free job ads for volunteer position. The reason being is two fold; 1. Greydient as a business has a social consequence and would like to support the work of charitable organizations and 2. If you are unemployed, partly employed or even employed, volunteering has a number of key benefits for an individual. So we wholeheartedly support it.

We talk about the benefits of volunteering and provide details of the Free Job Ads pledge here..

Introducing Jigsaw4U..

Jigsaw4u : helping children and young people to put the pieces back together”

Jigsaw4u is a well-established community based charity working for children and young people affected by complex social, emotional and bereavement issues. We work proactively to get children, young people and their families back on track by building positive relationships and empowering them to have a voice in their future.

Working across five London Boroughs, you may know of us then as a result of our bereavement counselling, or maybe you have a Jigsaw4u Home School Links worker in your school. But there’s more to us than meets the eye. Take a look here and read more about what we do..

Volunteering with Jigsaw4U

There are many varied volunteering opportunities at Jigsaw4u. Volunteers are valued and respected and receive expenses and support to enable them to fulfil their VITAL role within our service. Jigsaw4U recognises the enormous work each person does, and would like to say a big thank you to the special people that volunteer with us. Each year at our AGM we honour volunteers who have done a fantastic job throughout the year; the highest of these honours is our Star Volunteer Award.

Volunteer TODAY!

Mentors – Volunteer Mentors befriend and assist vulnerable 10 or 11 year olds in Year 6.  They will offer regular support to a child, guiding them through their transition to secondary school.  We need all Mentors to commit to 1 hour on the same day every week, term time only from 3.15 – 4.15pm and attend 3 evening training sessions.
Domestic Abuse – An opportunity for you to befriend individuals and families who have experienced domestic abuse. Building a trusting relationship, you will support them to make links within the wider community, to access local services and to attend a variety of appointments.  Volunteers need to complete an 8 week training course and we ask for a minimum of 2 hours volunteering per week between the hours of 9-5pm, Monday to Friday.
Fundraising – We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can organise fundraising events, help us with corporate fundraising and come up with creative ways to help us raise money so we can continue helping children and young people.  There is a core group of fundraisers that meet up to 6 times a year, however attending these meetings is not compulsory.
Gardening – We need volunteers to help maintain the garden at Jigsaw4u as an enjoyable, safe and useful place for all, but in particular so it can be used by children and young people.  Our office is open from 9-5pm Monday to Friday, gardening needs to be done within these times for staff to give volunteers access to the property.
